THERE IS NO MORE EFFECTIVE WAY TO TRANSFORM LIVES THAN THROUGH EDUCATION.
NURSERY SCHOOL PROGRAM
Education for Vulnerable Children
We operate four nursery schools for children ages three through six years old, providing a safe place to learn, grow, and play. Children attending our nursery schools receive lessons in English, Math, Art and Hygiene, a clean uniform, and all of the educational materials and supplies they need.
We see these nursery schools as the first step to creating a hopeful future for the children of Kenya and Rwanda. We also provide students with nutritious meals, sanitary latrines, and access to an on-site nurse who monitors and ensures the children are in good health.
To continue to maintain long term success in our nursery school programs, we encourage parental involvement and have established a small fee for their children to attend. Parental participation physically and financially ensures community investment in the nursery school program over time.

NUTRITIOUS MEALS FOR SCHOOL KIDS
PARTNERSHIP WITH TABLE FOR TWO
Our feeding program supports the nutritional needs of over 5,000 students across the nursery, secondary and primary schools. A healthy breakfast and lunch increase students’ ability to concentrate during lessons and improves attendance at school. These meals are consistent sources of food that many students rely on for their one daily meal.
Students’ meals are cooked in Kageno kitchens on school grounds with locally sourced produce (whenever possible). We’re also able to offer employment and nutritional education at our kitchens.
Kageno’s food and nutrition program exists through the support of Table for Two, our partner since 2010. Table for Two is a Japanese organization dedicated to correcting the imbalance of undernutrition by selling well-priced healthy meals to corporations and schools. They sponsor nutrition programs run by a variety of NGOs in over 20 countries.
Adult Education + Library
learning at all ages
Adult education is just as valuable to us as childhood education. Creating a prosperous community relies on the abilities of all peoples to live up to their potential.
We offer classes and curriculum for adults covering a wide range of topics, including basic health care, sexual education, HIV prevention, reproductive health, family planning, conservation through agricultural training, and income-generating programs. We also offer English lessons as English is now widely spoken in East Africa.
To foster on-going education, we’ve built a library in Banda Village for the community to have access to reading materials for all ages.
You’ll learn more about our adult education programs on each program area page. Healthcare - Conservation - Income Generation.
