New Nursery School
A new nursery school fabricated from repurposed shipping containers using local materials opened. Designed by SPG Architects, it was funded by donors, in honor of Board Member Candice Miller’s late daughter Dana.
Ecolodge Guest Bungalow
Conservation was our key consideration when we broke ground on the biggest project we’ve undertaken - our first Ecolodge guest bungalow and bath pavilion which paves the way for new income-generating opportunities for the community of Banda Village, Rwanda.
Covid Response Initiatives
Our on-site Covid response initiatives continued through the year as schools and services slowly resumed. Our Harambee was celebrated virtually with many celebrity supporters sending video messages to our donors.
Banda Maternity Center
Opening in 2020, the Banda Maternity Center will provide comprehensive care to expectant mothers, family planning services, including prenatal care, post-natal care, and medical care on-site.
Agricultural Education
Educational programs on conservation and agriculture launch in Banda Village focused on sustainable farming techniques and crop varieties.
Bee-Keeping as a Business
New income-generating business concepts are explored including a baking facility and a bee-keeping colony.
Our Feeding Program Expands
Our feeding program expands to serve 4,968 students across 12 schools.
Clean Water
11,000 people can access clean water in Banda Village.
Testing + Counseling
2,000 people attend out HIV/AIDS Voluntary Testing and Counseling services. While our Pharmacy in Banda Village is retrofitted to provide maternity services to expectant mothers
Agricultural Education Expands
1,500 farmers attended over 100 agricultural training sessions. Vegetables from the garden are used to help feed children in Kenya and Rwanda.
Kageno Students
746 Children attend the Kageno School and receive a nutritious meal daily
Livestock Program Expands
Cows, Chickens, and Rabbits are brought in expanding our livestock program. Offering more sources of food, income, and prosperity.
